Museveni lobbies G8
leaders for markets
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has said the long-term solution to
backwardness in Africa is improved and fairer trade relations
with the industrialised world.
Museveni said Africa still lagged behind due to its limited
market access, continued reliance on raw materials exports,
lack of developed human resource and poor infrastructure.
Addressing the G8 summit in Sea Island, Georgia, Thursday,
Museveni said the African continent had to embrace
“vision-led-aid and not aid-led vision with independent
decision- making in dealing with donors.”
He was among the six African leaders whom US President George
Bush invited to brief the G8 grouping of the world’s most
industrialised nations, on the situation in Africa.
