Microsoft will donate 1 billion US
dollars to UNDP
Microsoft Cooperation’s Bill Gates, has
made public, his firm’s intention to inject 1Billion US
dollars, over five years, in money and software, as part of
a computer literacy project in partnership with the UN
development program, to benefit developing countries.
In Afghanistan, Microsoft joined the UN
in creating 16 Computer centers, to train over 12000 users
in 2004. The American Software giant Microsoft has
announced.
The magnitude of the program is quite
unusual, in terms of enterprise funding, Bill Gates said, at
the World Economic Forum in Davos, but did not elaborate on
the amount directly affected to the program.
This announcement came as a result of a
pilot program established in Afghanistan. According to UN
special agent Mark Maloch Brown, this ambitious project
seeks to link the world through the Internet.
Our business is built on relationships
with our customers, partners, investors,
employees, and with the communities where we live and work.
We are committed to keeping those
relationships strong by communicating openly about our
business practices, being transparent about our performance,
and remaining accountable for our conduct.
We know that our decisions have
significant ramifications for other companies and for people
and communities worldwide. We take that responsibility very
seriously.
